Great humans make great leaders. I am currently writing my fourth book on Leadership and what makes a great leader. I wanted to share some insights on this and some of my greatest f*ck up’s and and beliefs., What do you think?
My greatest f*ck ups as a leader –
If I had the title of a manager, then I would have been a leader. It is not.
Leadership would be easy. It is not.
Leadership was about power. Not.
Leadership is about directing others. Very rarely.
They will listen to me as I am a leader. Nope.
I didn’t focus on self-awareness and EQ. Big mistake.
I lack confidence and courage. Build this muscle ASAP.
I never learnt about leadership. This is why I read books now.
My greatest beliefs
Leadership books focus too much on being a role when it is an attitude.
Most books are too complex and theoretical, and this one is easy to read and apply.
I believe in keeping it honest, vulnerable and stories are where it is at
I think you need somewhere to write down your actions and learnings – commitment is key
I believe leadership can change the world, and it starts with you and us
I believe leadership will make a massive difference in your life
I think great leadership begins with a strong foundation – Character. Courage.
Leadership is a great honour and responsibility. Serve others.
You must want to lead and love it.
Life is short; think about your legacy. It drives greatness.
The greatest leaders never stop learning. Wisdom.
We need more leaders.
Leadership starts within.
I believe no leader is perfect.
Great humans make great leaders.
We can all be great.
Great humans make great leaders because they embody qualities that inspire and uplift others. These qualities go beyond mere competence or authority; they touch on deeper aspects of character, empathy, and vision.
- Empathy and Compassion: Great leaders understand and care about the people they lead. They connect with others on a human level, showing empathy for their struggles and compassion for their well-being. This builds trust and fosters a sense of community.
- Integrity and Character: Great leaders are guided by a strong moral compass. They act with integrity, making decisions that are not only effective but also ethically sound. Their character earns them respect and loyalty, as people are more likely to follow someone they believe is honest and principled.
- Vision and Wisdom: Great leaders have a clear vision for the future, coupled with the wisdom to make that vision a reality. They can see beyond immediate challenges and inspire others with a sense of purpose and direction.
- Courage and Resilience: Great leaders demonstrate courage, both in making difficult decisions and in standing up for what they believe is right. They are resilient in the face of adversity, showing others how to persevere through tough times.
- Humility and Continuous Growth: Great leaders recognize that they are not infallible. They are open to feedback, willing to learn from others, and committed to their own growth. This humility allows them to adapt and evolve, making them more effective over time.
- Connection and Collaboration: Great leaders understand the importance of human connection. They build strong relationships, encourage collaboration, and create environments where everyone feels valued and empowered to contribute.
In essence, great humans make great leaders because they lead with both heart and mind, combining their personal strengths with a genuine concern for the people they serve. Their leadership is not just about achieving goals but about uplifting others and making a positive impact on the world.
